Driving directions: Note — the following directions indicate Cliff Haven to be east of Rt. 9.  In fact, West Cliff Haven (aka "New Cliff Haven") is on the west side of Rt. 9 at the very southern end of the development.

bullet

From the south: Take I-87 (Northway) to Exit 35.  From exit ramp, take a right (east) on Bear Swamp Road (Rt. 442) until you reach Route 9 (3.7 miles).  Take a left (north) on Route 9 for approximately 6 miles.  You will pass Bluff Point Golf Club, Clinton Community College and Wood Cliff (all on your right) before you reach Cliff Haven.

bullet

From the north: From I-87, at Exit 39 South take a left onto Moffitt Rd. for approximately ¼-mile.  At intersection with Rt. 9, turn right (south).  Travel about 5 miles into and through the City of Plattsburgh.  You will have reached the city limits when you see Clare & Carl's on your right. About 1 mile south of the city limits, you will drive under a railroad underpass.  Cliff Haven is on left, immediately south of underpass.

bullet

From the west (Rt. 3): Follow Rt. 3 through the Town of Plattsburgh and past the Champlain Centre Malls.  When you pass under the I-87 underpass, Rt. 3 becomes Cornelia St. Four traffic lights after the underpass (Plattsburgh Plaza on left, Santa Daewoo (sp?) on right, ½ mile), bear right onto Broad Street.  Follow Broad street to its end where it crosses the Saranac River and intersects with Rt. 9.  Turn right and follow Rt. 9 out of the City of Plattsburgh.  You will have reached the city limits when you see Clare & Carl's on your right. About 1 mile south of the city limits, you will drive under a railroad underpass.  Cliff Haven is on left, immediately south of underpass.

bullet

From the east: Take Exit 17 off I-89, heading west on US-2 approximately 11 miles to North Hero.  Take a left onto Rt. 314, traveling 2.3 miles to the Grand Isle Ferry landing.  Ferries generally run every 20-40 minutes. Depart ferry on Cumberland Head, NY, bearing left onto Rt. 314 for about 4 miles until you reach intersection with Rt. 9.  Left on Rt. 9, travel about 5 miles into and through the City of Plattsburgh. You will have reached the city limits when you see Clare & Carl's on your right. About 1 mile south of the city limits, you will drive under a railroad underpass.  Cliff Haven is on left, immediately south of underpass.

By air, you can fly into Clinton County Airport in Plattsburgh but you are far more likely to make connections to Burlington International Airport across Lake Champlain in Burlington, Vermont, or Albany Airport.

Burlington is only about 27 miles from Plattsburgh but requires a 20-minute ferry ride between Grand Isle, Vermont and Cumberland Head (Plattsburgh) New York. Albany is 150 miles south of Plattsburgh.

You can also fly into Montreal's Dorval or Mirabel airports.  Montreal is about 65 miles north of Cliff Haven; Mirabel, it should be noted, is about an hour from Montreal's downtown. Dorval is considerably more convenient to drive to.  In any case, your travel plans should allow for a delay of up to an hour at the Canadian border.

By train, the Amtrak Montrealer stops once each day from both the north and south at the D&H Station in downtown Plattsburgh.
