Cliff Haven Beach & Picnic Area

The Beach area located on the southeast edge of the development on Champlain Drive was donated to the residents by two of the Cliff Haven developers in 1964 with the stipulation that it be available to all Cliff Haven residents.

In the summer, the Town of Plattsburgh runs a Red Cross certified swimming instruction and a lifeguard provided by the Town is on duty most afternoons in July and August.

Beach rules are strictly enforced.

The CHHA relies totally on voluntary membership fees of $50 per year to offset the expenses associated with the beach, dock and picnic area. Volunteers from the neighborhood are essential to clean and maintain the beach and picnic area.  A permanent Beach and Grounds Committee oversees the area.

Our removable dock is installed by our Dock Committee each spring and taken down each fall. CHHA dues pay for the maintenance of this dock.

The picnic area of the beach property serves as the main gathering point for many community events including a Schools-Out Party, the July 4th Celebration and an annual free Adults Only Membership Appreciation Party
for those who have paid their CHHA dues.

The Homeowners Association pays beach and dock maintenance, property taxes and insurance. The CHHA has constructed bathrooms just south of the beach and these are kept clean and operating throughout the summer.  Recently a beach shower was installed.

Hopefully more improvements and enhancements will just keep coming!
